Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area located in The West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" place. The West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a vast part that stretches from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel is said to be born on the West Island. But this isn't the truth. Brugel was raised in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. She was determined to be professional, however because of a huge expansion, she surpassed the dance partners she had. The article she wrote about her experience revealed written by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. As I grew older than my male friends, I quit. There are many dancers who make the move into acting. In the case of the Brugel family, it was their drama instructor who pushed her in that direction. It was her teacher who advised her to audition to play the character of Anne in the school's annual production. Following a trial her options, she was eventually the leading lady in Anne of Green Gables. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Over the past 20 years since Brugel has landed roles in over 60 shows on the big and small screens drawing the most media attention after she was offered the part as Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian in the Season 1 cast of the show and only seen occasionally was the only Canadian.
